Dr. Michael Salyzyn

Mike is a native Nova Scotian who received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Dalhousie University after completing a Bachelor of Science Honors Certificate in Biochemistry as well as a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He is focused on comprehensive and compassionate care mixed with a great sense of humour. Mike has a special interest in the use of dental implants as well as computer-aided design and manufacturing of ceramic dental crowns and onlays. He is a member of the Academy for Sports Dentistry, the Nova Scotia Dental Association, the Canadian Dental Association, the Straumann implant study program and well as a lecturer at the Dalhousie Dental School for 20 years.

Dr Salyzyn has been a member of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic dental team, Lead dentist for the Canada Winter Games in 2011, Canada Russia Challenge Cup, Sandjam , World Junior Volleyball championships and the 2015 Toronto Maple Leafs training camp in Halifax. He is a certified team dentist with the Academy for Sports Dentistry and presently serves as team dentist for St Mary’s University athletics. He is a vigorous supporter of the use of mouth guards and the prevention of dental injuries in sport.

In his spare time he is a passionate downhill skier and Vice-President (Operations) for the local chapter of the Canadian Ski Patrol. He also enjoys cycling, golf, and a spirited game of ice hockey. (In fact, just about any sport is fine with Mike.)

Dr. Cory George

Born and raised in Mira, Cape Breton, Dr. George attended Cape Breton University where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology. From there he made the move to Halifax to start school at Dalhousie University, receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. As a child he always had a passion in the arts but also an interest in science. “I find dentistry is the perfect mix of both and I couldn’t imagine myself doing any other job”.
When he’s not at the office he enjoys sculpting, painting furniture, indoor gardening, and singing in his car pretending nobody can see him through his windows.

Dr. Parya Roodbaraki

Dr. Roodi graduated in 2007, receiving her Doctorate of Medicine- Dentistry degree from Shahid Beheshti University. She worked as an associate Dentist in a private clinic before moving to Canada in 2013. After completing her NDBE she obtained her license to practice in Nova Scotia and has been working in Nova Scotia since 2015.

Dr. Roodi is a compassionate and skilled Dentist- known within the clinic for her easy laugh and her caring approach with her patients. These qualities, combined with her extensive education and experience, ensure that she provides safe and comprehensive Dental care to each and every patient she sees. She is also certified to provide dental care under sedation (laughing gas).

When not at the clinic she enjoys continuing her Dental education to stay on top of all current and upcoming Dental advancements and the everchanging Dental technology- and in her spare time her favorite thing to do is spend time with her family and friends- including her 2 sweet little girls.

Lisa – Dental Hygienist

Lisa has practiced Dental Hygiene for more then 30 years-most of which she had spend collaboratively working along side Dr. Salyzyn to provide our clients with exceptional dental care. She graduated from Dalhousie University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science Degree and decided to further her studies in the field of dentistry, graduating with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene in 1991. Her expertise and passion include working in the field of Periodontics and Orthodontics. Throughout the years she has taken numerous continuing education courses to remain current in the ever changing and evolving field of Dental Hygiene. Originally from Cape Breton, she still makes many trips back with her husband, daughter and son to visit family and enjoy her cottage.

Natasha – Dental Hygienist

Natasha joined Summit Dentistry in 2017 and has been in the dental field for 20 years. She obtained her Dental Hygiene degree in 2000 from a 3 year program at John Abbott College in Quebec. Most of her work experience was in Montreal, but as a born and raised Maritimer , she is happy to be in Nova Scotia closer to her family and is truly thankful for having found a great team to be a part of here at Summit Dentistry. Natasha’s main focus to all her clients is to improve their dental education and health, as well as to provide an overall comforting positive experience each and every visit! In her spare time, Natasha enjoys being a busy Mom of her (3) children Logan, Olivia and her golden retriever fur baby named Maggie.

Alyssa – Dental Hygienist

Alyssa graduated from Oulton College with a Diploma of Dental Hygiene in 2014 and joined the Summit Dentistry team in September 2020. She is passionate about educating patients of all ages about their oral health. She ensures each visit to the dentist is a positive one, making the patient’s comfort a top priority, so that they look forward to coming back!

Alyssa grew up in Yarmouth, and met her other half from Cape Breton, so they decided to settle in the middle and bought a house in Beaver Bank. When she’s not at work, she’s spending time with her pride and joy, her young son, Grayson. They are always up for an adventure from one end of the province to the other! She loves going to country music festivals, spending time with friends/family and relaxing at her family’s cottage on the lake!

Alyssa is so happy to have joined the Summit Dentistry team and can’t wait to meet you!

Amanda – Dental Hygienist

Amanda graduated from the Toronto College of Dental Hygiene in 2017 with honours. After completing her diploma Amanda moved back to her home province of PEI where she practiced for a few years before finding her way to Nova Scotia. Amanda’s favourite part of being a hygienist is all the patients she gets to make connections with. She is passionate about oral hygiene education and creating healthy smiles.

When not working hard, Amanda loves spending time with her significant other Jay and their German Shepherd puppy, Rory! On long weekends you can find them out exploring trails and waterfalls in Nova Scotia or travelling back to see their families in PEI.

If you’re lucky enough to be in Amandas chair, you can be sure she will greet you with a warm smile and an easy going nature!

Becky – Dental Hygienist

Becky has worked at Summit Dentistry since 2012, after graduating from Dalhousie University with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene. Becky is also licensed to practice local anesthesia. She has a real passion for working with children and is always motivating and teaching proper hygiene techniques to maintain a healthy smile.
In her free time Becky can be found chasing after her 2 boys, hiking, biking or enjoying a cup of coffee. She enjoys being part of the Summit team and looks forward to meeting you!

Tamara – Dental Assistant

Tamara graduated from NSCC, Halifax Campus, in 2019, where she received her Diploma as a Registered Dental Assistant and became part of the Summit team after completing her work term here. She was born in Ontario and has lived the majority of her life in the beautiful Maritimes. She is a mother to five children, loves music, dancing, baking, sunsets along the water, and spending time with her family (2 legged & 4 legged) & close friends. Tamara has spent most of her career working in the Customer Service field, where she has enjoyed working with the public. It was through her love of working with the public, her passion to help others and her flexibility to adapt in a fast-paced work environment that led her to pursue a career as a Registered Dental Assistant. She now enjoys working alongside Dr. Parya Roodbaraki and being part of such a great team. Tamara continues her education and skills through continuing education courses to stay up to date with dental technologies. She looks forward to meeting you and your family!

Krista – Dental Assistant

Krista graduated from the Nova Scotia Institute of Technology with a diploma in Dental Assisting in 1986. She has worked as Dr. Salyzyn’s right hand since 1990. Krista continues her education and skills as an assistant by taking continuing education courses to stay up to date with the latest dental technology. Her spare time is divided between family, friends and her Bernedoodle, Reggie. She is big Jimmy Buffet fan and can be often found in her back yard oasis, or as she refers to it “Margaritaville”.

Karlee – Dental Assistant

Karlee graduated From NSCC-IT in the summer of 2011 where she received her Diploma in Dental Assisting. She joined the Summit team in July 2011 and has been by Dr. Power’s side ever since! Karlee loves being part of such a great team, especially when she is able to come to work and be her silly, friendly, happy go lucky self. You will always see a smile on her face and she will try her hardest to put a smile on yours! Karlee grew up in Mount Uniacke with her parents and two siblings. She recently moved to Beaverbank to start a new chapter of her life and is excited to see what the future holds. On her days off you can find her outdoors, travelling and occasionally snuggled up with her cat Milo and a good movie.

Summer – Dental Assistant

Summer graduated from the NSCC IT campus in the summer of 2021 and was eager to get right into the dental field. She also has a diploma in medical office administrating. Summer is fun loving, passionate, outgoing and a jokester. She is a small town country girl from Yarmouth who loves to play lots of sports, spend time with her family and make woodwork crafts with her grandfather. In her spare time you can catch her doing art work, on the ball field or at the gym.

Bailey – Senior Patient Coordinator

Bailey graduated from Success College where she received her Medical and Dental Office Administration diploma. She joined our administration team in September of 2019 as part of her college work placement and has been with us ever since. She loves to meet new people, help patients, and enjoys expanding her dental knowledge. She loves being part of this unique office and to work with such talented and caring people.
When Bailey is out of the office, she enjoys doing craft projects with her two young children, reading and spending quality time with friends and family.

Kayla – Patient Coordinator

Kayla recently joined our administration team in 2022. Prior to joining our team she worked at an Orthodontic clinic. Although she enjoyed her time learning everything about orthodontics it was time for a change. Kayla is thrilled to be apart of such an amazing team and she loves learning new things. She recently moved to Halifax with her fiancé. In her spare time you can find her exploring new places or playing with her kitten Nemo.

Angela – Patient Coordinator

Angela has been a valued member of the Summit Dentistry family since 2008. She left in 2012 to focus on raising her young family but has returned to us bringing a friendly, familiar face and over 20 years of experience and knowledge. When Angela is not at Summit, she can be found with her family and friends, spending time on the lake, in the rink watching the boys play hockey or going for hikes with her newest addition, a sweet golden retriever puppy named Kane.
We are so happy to have Angela back with us.

Dawn – Patient Coordinator

Dawn joined the Summit Dentistry team in 2021 after relocating to the area with her young family. When she is not at Summit, Dawn enjoys spending time with her two young children, her spouse and their dogs. Together, they enjoy scouring the shores of Nova Scotia for sea treasures, walks in the woods exploring fungi, or staying in for movie and game nights. Dawn is an avid reader and loves a good dramatic plot twist. In her spare time, Dawn volunteers and fosters with various animal rescues.
Dawn is so excited to be a part of such a supportive and uplifting team.

Candice – Sterilization Technician

Candice joined our team as a sterilization technician in February 2022. After spending the last 10 years in the Rockies, she is excited to spend time with family, and show her baby girl the beauty of the maritimes. Her favourite things are anything chocolate, wine, and being by the ocean.

Karen – Dental Center Manager

Karen has been a part of the team since June of 2008. She has a diploma in Office Administration and a diploma in Art Medium and Art History. She has been working in the dental field for 23+ years – 14 of those at Summit Dentistry~ and is thrilled to be settled at a practice that is so focused on bringing their patients the latest and best in dental technology. As the second half of the Treatment Co-ordination and Dental Center Management team, along with Jessica, she strives to make sure Summit Dentistry’s patients are well informed and equipped to choose the best treatment option for their oral health and their financial needs.
Karen also has a thriving art production business and her pieces can be viewed in many Nova Scotia museums and displayed internationally. Her favorite things are her Maltese named Henry and her family & friends. If she isn’t off travel adventuring in another country, or cooking- you can find her on her front porch swing with a little white puppy, a glass of wine and a good book-or texting Jessica.

Jessica – Dental Center Manager

Jessica has been a part of our team now since June, 2011. She joined us after graduating from NSCC where she received her Office Administration Diploma. She has always been very interested in working in the medical field and is extremely happy to have found her spot in such a patient focused practice.
As the other half of treatment coordination and dental center management team, she works hand in hand with Karen and will help you understand your treatment options and can coordinate with your insurance provider to help you choose the best treatment for your individual needs.

Jessica grew up in the Windsor Junction area, but has now settled in Dartmouth with hubby Tim and her Siamese cat, Kitty. In her free-time she enjoys tending to her impressive veggie garden in the summer months, weekends at the cottage, cooking and spending time with friends and family.

During your first visit we will take some digital X-Rays and see what’s going on inside of your mouth. Then, we’ll learn about your oral health goals and come up with a treatment plan.

Next Visit

Once we have shared our recommendations, we want you make the best decisions for yourself. We will never be pushy or recommend treatments that you do not need.
